The BIB - Thermal
**New Product. Launched in July 2020 (Field tested in Winter 2019).
The BIB - Thermal is a warm, fleece-backed lycra bibshort that is based on The BIB. It keeps your hips and thighs warm, while allowing the rest of your legs to enjoy the sun. It is designed for Spring & Autumn rides when the temperature is low but not cold enough for full length winter tights. This product is designed for use during the winter fringe seasons and pairs well with your favourite knee and leg warmers for a versatile multi-season bibshort.
This new bibshort uses a fleece-backed thermal lycra that is made by M.I.T.I of Italy. This new fabric will get you through the colder fringe seasons which our summer bibshorts aren't warm enough to handle. This fabric is slightly water repellent and will easily handle light drizzles and road spray.
The BIB - Thermal is made for Spring & Autumn (fringe seasons) and will carry you through rides of 5 hours and more.

As someone that rides all year round in all sorts of weather and for long periods, I decided to gives these shorts ago based on an Instagram post that they were the best for long hauls.
At first I was sceptical as I use to wear another brand who had the same claims, but the first 3-4 hour ride in these was perfect. There wasn't the normal physical discomfort that I use to get after 3 hours in the saddle with the other brand. These shorts do what they say they claim – there is no pretense. I have now ridden alot of kms in these and in all sorts of weather, as an early starter these thermal ones are perfect for that crisp morning and keeps warmth right through when the day doesnt warm up. In rain whether that be light or heavy, these stack up – keep you dry and warm.
Winter riding has been part of my cycling since 2004. My clothing choices have changed, but I tend to stick with a few key items. My first pair of winter cycling shoes were a huge improvement, and so was my first pair of fleece bib knickers. The knickers still needed leg warmers on colder days, around freezing and below, and would get a little warm above around 55 dF. I could easily adjust my upper layers, but the lower layers were always the critical decision.
When RedWhite offered their thermal bib short trial last year, I couldn’t resist! So many days rides, I’ve left home with normal bibshorts and leg warmers (or not), and my “bibshort section” got cold from the cool air flowing through the lycra. These thermal bibshorts are the missing link in my between season kit solutions. This piece provides more flexibility on the days with low starts and warm finished. I’ve ridden 253 miles in these, from around 45dF to 63, and I have been perfectly comfortable! I had never seen thermal shorts before, but I’m very glad I had the opportunity to try these, it has simplified my clothing choices.
Jury is still out on these since California has yet to experience cold weather...
But these fit well and have similar padding as my other three RedWhite bibshorts; which have been ridden for nearly 10,000 miles (including PBP 2019.)
I'm looking forward to winter...
