Bought my first pair of bib shorts around three weeks ago as I was suffering a bit on my 50/60 mile rides with the shorts I was wearing which had minimal padding.
The transformation was instant and incredible and don’t know why I didn’t buy a pair years ago. I can highly recommend these bib shorts from the measurement guidance from Yuva and customer service to the pleasure it has brought to my riding. I have done consecutive days riding totally 85, 100 and 40 miles on a charity ride in total comfort and not one feeling of discomfort. Great product.
I came across RW during my hunt for a longer inseam cargo bib and thought of giving it a try. The sizing guide was great and helpful, but I decided to be safe and contact Yuva – the sizing guide recommended a "L + 2"" and I am usually riding a "S-M". Yuva double-checked my measurements and reassured me to go for the size long "L".
Very fast shipping, and my first ride in this bib was a 230 km / 9-hour ride – no problems or discomfort at all!
I can compare this bib to the MAAP Team Evo Cargo, Canyon Cargo, Victory Chimp Cargo, and Rapha Brevet, and have to say this bib is above all of them regarding long-distance comfort, padding, and fit.
Fit:
I'm 193 cm / 76 kg – quite tall and lean, and I've always had the problem of bibs being either too wide or too short. The Cargo Bib is one of the only available bibs with a longer (and shorter) inseam option. Size "L + 2 inches" is the perfect fit for my body type. It's a snug, compressed fit, but not too racy.
Padding / Chamois:
I'm riding a Brooks Cambium C15 and Cambium C13 (140/145 mm) and never had real problems with other bibs. But the long-distance (8+ hour) comfort is just above all other bibs I've ridden. I don't need any chamois cream or anything else – no chafing, no discomfort. Also, it doesn't feel like a diaper, even though it's a bit thicker.
Cargo Pockets:
This might be my only neutral point, though I understand the design concept.
I get the feeling that the cargo pockets also grew in size along with the longer inseam. Because of that, they are incredibly long. On top (at the opening), they sit on top of your leg, which makes it even more difficult to reach your phone, for example. Slightly shorter pockets – especially at the top – would make this bib even better.
I don't use the rear pockets, but you can't feel them either – not a problem at all.
Design/Aesthetics:
Its more of a technical and classical design which is nothing bad. I got the feeling that there are plenty of seams but no discomfort. Its just not as clean and seamless looking like a Maap, PNS or other modern bibs.
Of the bibs I've ridden, here's my very personal ranking:
RW Cargo
Rapha Brevet (unfortunately way too short) – but very good, minimalistic design
Canyon Cargo
Victory Chimp Cargo
MAAP Team Evo
Overall: Big recommendation for this bib, especially for the taller and leaner people who are looking for long distance comfort.
I have 2 bib shorts now. The excellent chamoi gives support and comfort for a long time in the saddle. I've recently done the Way of the Roses, a uk coast to coast, with no problems, washing every night and alternating them. A good thing for me is that the chamoi stays in position, instead of riding up my back, like other makes.
I purchased the regular shorts and went with the size recommendation (xl I am 1.81 and 85kg) as I wanted a great long display pair of bib shorts.
They arrived quickly with no additional customs related issues (shipped to the UK).
On first putting them on they were very snug but this is really what you want in a set of shorts.
I have now given them 2 pretty serious tests.
Ride 1 - 212k Audax, very impressed on this ride used my normal chamois cream and these were comfortable all day.
Ride 2 - 330k Chase the Sun ride, again very comfortable on a very warm and very long day.
I had packed a spare pair of shorts in our support car but I didn’t need or want to change them.
Overall very very pleased with theses shorts and the very personal service around sizing from Yuva
Great bib shorts not just for long rides. Good for all rides.
Well made and comfortable.
I'm 164cm, 61Kg and 76cm waist. Bought size small regular.
Thanks to Yuva for getting my size correct.
Have purchased 4-5 bibs from RW in the past 5 years. I switched to size Small for this purchase. Was always in between M and S. Great shorts. One small criticism, the thigh grips have all come a little loose. I always wash the bibs in a bag on delicate, cold water, non enzyme detergent and hang to dry.
Thank you Ken for purchasing so many pairs. The gripper becoming loose is an issue. Could you email me photos of that to : yuva@redwhite.cc please? - Yuva
First time I have tried these after a few friends have recommended and I am super impressed. The chamois is awesome and the bibs fit extremely well and snug. Sizing chart is spot on. I am 187cm and 83kgs and ordered the standard XL ones. Will be ordering more for sure.
Comfortable for short and long rides, these bibs are meant for anything. These bibs have the right amount of compression, padding, and breathability that other brands cannot seem to match. Highly recommend for any rider and for any type of riding
These are by far the most comfortable bibs out there. I tried Velocio, Assos, Siroko, Black Bibs, Cafe du Cycliste, Rapha and Castelli. None of them come even close to the level of comfort that the RedWhite bibs provide and some of them are a lot more expensive. These bibs are the only ones where I don't have issues with my backside after 80k+ of riding. I would and will recommend these to anyone!
Great quality, excellent chamois and actually brilliant value when you look at some of the other (pretty flimsy) options available for a similar price.
I’m currently about 1200km into a 1800km ride through France and Spain. My RW bibs are excellent- comfortable with absolutely no problems or soreness. Washed each evening as Yuva details and ready to go again the next day. Very highly recommended!
Im a big fan, Shammy is super comfortable, the bibs fit great, and I love the cargo pockets. definatley use the sizing calculator or reach to Yuva with your measurements. I would have got a medium if I hand not and the large he recommended for me is the perfect fit. thanks again
I have just ridden from Calais to Chamonix in 6 days. These shorts were incredibly comfortable and I can confirm no saddle sores at all. I’m 5’9” and could have done with an extra 2” on the leg length.
RedWhite bibs are, by far, the best I have found, and a fair bit less expensive than the big brands, which fall short anyway. These are my 4th and 5th pair of RW's, and they have all been great. Now that the US pricing includes prepaid taxes and tariffs (thanks a lot DJT) the ordering process is once again smooth, without any unexpected surcharges from Fedex. My only tiny gripe with the bibs are the straps, which are great in all respects except for the fact that they chafe my nips if I don't cover them with sports tape. Small price to pay for the ultimate in comfort in all other regards.
Well made and true to size. Just got back from a cycling break in Mallorca and these were brilliant. 100k + rides completed with no chafing issues
I quite like distance cycling. And for a while I'd been looking for bibshorts that would see me through 50 and 75 mile rides in comfort. RedWhite really delivered. The first time I wore RedWhite's bibshorts I went on a 70-mile ride and forgot to apply chamois cream, which I usually need to avoid chafing. I didn't even think about that until after the ride, which is a testament to RedWhite's chamois design. I also wore RedWhite on a cycling trip to Japan, which involved multiple rides of 30-40 miles over consecutive days. The bibshorts were incredibly comfortable without any chamois cream. RedWhite's bibshorts are now essential kit for my rides. Highly, highly recommended. Also: Shout out to Yuva for the sizing help before I purchased. The personal email and answers to my follow-up questions were excellent customer service.
Recently received my Cargo Bib shorts with pockets. This week I did two 35 mile rides. The first with another make of bib shorts previously purchased. Whilst comfortable during the ride my bottom was sore afterwards. Then 3 days later did another 35 mile ride this time with my new Red White Apparel Bib shorts. Result was no soreness whatsoever! And I love the fit and the pockets which are so useful.
Have to say reviews are spot on. They also seem to get more comfortable with every wear. Great in general but especially for the longer rides.
I tested the bib out on a 600k brevet! XS fit me perfectly ; super light and well padded!
My second pair of RedWhite shorts and today I wore my new. RedWhite winter bibs today (June in Scotland!) Fantastic product. Great fit. Very comfortable ride. Very quick delivery.
My 2nd pair of RW bib shorts.
I find these superior to the more expensive top of the range Pedal Mafia bib shorts I normally wear.
The cargo shorts fit is a bit tighter than mu usual large sizing, but not uncomfortable at all.
You will not find a better bib short for long distance rides.
Very comfortable indeed. Have worn them a couple of times and very happy. Have just bought 2 more pairs. I like the slightly longer "braces" which suit my body length better than other bib shorts.
